I died because I didn't eat  (part 1 & 2)

How many people do you think die because they don't have access to food?

I was inspired by a giant poster of several models that looked prepubescent and emaciated for a Topshop window display. I was shocked at the extreme thinness and gaunt female bodies used to advertise Topshop's clothes. Eating disorders are a taboo issue that I feel strongly about especially when high street stores are advocating a body image/'look' that is impossible to sustain and often leads to death. The second part was a stronger protest outside the Topshop store in Oxford Circus. I bought my own range of pink Bulimia paraphernalia with me and proceeded to drink a pink concoction and make myself vomit it up in a pink basin.  This was also about a new range of clothing by a celebrated model who is notorious for a drug addiction. Celebrity identities and dysfunctional behaviours splatted all over the media attaining little or no consequences has a massive impact on people's journey to find their own identity. Why are desperate and dysfunctional people rewarded with more opportunities, awards, record deals and positive media coverage? What message does this give to people?  How many people do you think die because they choose not to eat?
